Cherries from the neighbor’s garden

**Cherries from the neighbor’s garden**

It was a bright sunny day in summer and the air was filled with the sweet smell of ripe cherries. Sophie had been looking at the cherry tree in the neighbor’s garden for a long time. The deep red fruit seemed to grow more tempting by the day. “Just a few cherries,” she thought to herself, “no one will notice.” Wearing her light summer dress and sandals, she carefully crept over the fence and grabbed an old wooden ladder leaning against the trunk of the tree. As she climbed the first rung, the leaves rustled gently in the wind. The cherries hung within reach, bright red and perfectly ripe.

Sophie stretched out, reached for the juiciest fruits and plucked them with a satisfied smile.
Her bare shoulders glistened in the sunlight as she climbed higher and higher, pushing aside the branches and gathering her prey.
With each cherry she picked, the tension grew – would she be caught?

But the adrenaline and the sweetness of the forbidden fruit made her forget everything around her.
Finally, she filled her hands with cherries and carefully climbed back down.
With a mischievous grin on her face, she scurried back over the fence before anyone noticed that a few fruits were missing.

“Maybe I’ll bring the neighbor a cherry pie tomorrow,” she thought to herself and bit into one of the freshly picked cherries.
